  Hi All....
PLEASE have an ambulance meet me at Sky Harbor Airport when I arrive!!!!!!!!
Another interesting day!!!....I think every BODY in this group is getting tired!!...me included!!!
Felt pretty good at 3 AM considering tendentious and head cold..after the bucket brigade to get our supplies, went to the wet sifting area and was doing great....got up to get a bucket just as SOMEONE PULLED A WATER HOSE IN FRONT OF ME, TRIPPED ME,  AND  DOWN I WENT...DARN!!    I was covered in gooey mud and had a pretty good scrape on the leg...of course bleeding like crazy....wasn't as bad as it looked, but got one great big bandage on my battle scar from Doc.........(we all had to get one i guess!)....and  a few pats on the back to soothe my ego which was also badly bruised after getting hosed down to get rid of the mud!
Teresa, thanks for sending the FIRST AID KIT....i think you sensed something I didn't!...really came in handy to change bandages!!....I have a few left...thank Goodness!!
So ....spent the rest of the day at wet sifting and found coins, pottery, and myself again! Lots of pics.....
The final pic is the WALL OF ANCIENT GARBAGE THAT I SCRAPED OFF THE SALT THAT SEEPED OUT AND WAS AS HARD AS CEMENT!...and still smelled!!.....this is where I got the tendinitis!....Looking at it I'm not surprised!...it was one big heap of a garbage wall!!...it  certainly is not all that glamorous here!....sewage drains, garbage walls, and bandages!!....YEEEEE HA!!
2 more days to go...let's hope I can hold it together!!....and the bandages hold out!!
Love you, kxxxxx PS...hope my shots are up to date!!

Spent today at the wet sifting (which I really enjoy) and today was TOTALLY UNEVENTFUL!

.....a nice change of pace!

Today and tomorrow we focus on clean-up of the site for final photos and final last minute digs......I will be back at the wet sifting and we have our work cut out for us tomorrow.

One crew found the Crusader Ditch, or the place where the Crusaders attacked from to take back Jerusalem cr. 1037.

Soooooo....lots of buckets were filled with earth (with more to come)...we top off the buckets with water and let them soak to break up the dirt.  We then mix them by hand....then, we "go fishing" ......for charcoal.....we take a sieve and skim off pieces  of charcoal that have floated to the top of the water.

This charcoal is then put into aluminum foil and will be carbon tested for the age of the fire and the level of history we are at. We cannot physically touch the charcoal or it may become contaminated with our skin cells....results of carbon testing will  be compared with the finds on that level ( pottery, coins, other finds) to confirm the history we are finding at that level....Really interesting!

Sooooo, one more day of 3am mornings and hopefully it should be a good finish to this adventure!

See you tomorrow!

Hi all...

THE GREAT DEED OF THE DIG IS DONE!!!!

and I am still in one piece!

Today we wet sifted 160 buckets of dirt and water....that was a record!!!....finding coins, painted plaster that was on the walls from Herod's time (cr. 37 BC to 4 AD) (THAT WAS A SURPRIZE TO ALL!) and all sorts of things!

Cleaned site and ready for site pictures. ..report will be published in about 6 months.

Tonight we are all going out for dinner to celebrate...

Believeeeeeee me....we are ALL relieved it is done!!

Some pics from today are attached of sifting charcoal, wet sifting on screens and of our team...FUN PEOPLE!!!!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY EVERYONE.  We are so fortunate to be living in the USA!

LOVE, KXXXX.
